Identification:

15 cm. Brown plumage with white underparts.

Habitat:

Marshes, ponds, and lakes with floating aquatic vegetation. Also shallow water, often in emergent vegetation (sparse sedge and grass).

Behaviour:

Nomadic in response to water levels and the availability of floating vegetation. Usually in pairs but can be found in small groups.

Diet:

Diet includes insects.

Breeding:

Males and females share nest incubation and caring for chicks.
