Identification:

The combination of the glossy black throat and upper parts and white belly is distinctive.

Habitat:

Acacia woodland, urban gardens, dry thornveld, woody, rocky areas, arid savanna and karoo scrub.

Behaviour:

Drainage line woodland, desert scrublands and gardens.

Diet:

Nectar and invertebrates.

Breeding:

Monogamous. It builds an oval nest.
